Malacca River Cruise

Malacca River is an important river during the Malacca Sultanate government and it has a value of its own history because on either side of the river is the urban areas, settlements, cemeteries, businesses, shippers, ports and more since hundreds of years ago.

Nowadays, you can choose whether departure at Jeti Muara, close to the Maritime Museum easily recognizable by the replica of the Portuguese ship Flor De la Mar or Taman Rempah jetty where the boat turns around and brings you back to the starting point. This shuttle ride of the river cruise boat only takes about 45 minutes.



You can view the uniqueness of the houses at Malacca because the both side of the river was shop houses relics of the Dutch era, traditional Malay houses and many other interesting sights of world heritage relics. These buildings are also painted with an overview of the history of Malacca, indirectly it providing knowledge to boat passengers throughout their shuttle ride.

Al-Khawarizmi Astronomy Complex

Al-Khawarizmi Astronomy Complex is one of the facilities that are provided by Melaka State Government in order to study and to explore the growth and the mystery of the universe. Melaka Mufti Department has been honored to realizing the State Government's ambition.


There were three main buildings in the Complex, which are the observatory, the Planetarium and the Training Centre. 








In the expansion of Al-Khawarizmi Astronomy Complex, Malaysian has the opportunity to study and appreciate astronomy deeper.

Stadthuys

The old Dutch Stadthuys is located right next to the square (known as the Dutch Square) where you can also find the Christ Church. There is a guided tour inside the building.

St. Pauls Cathedral

Near the famous Christ Church and the Stadhuys you will see the entrance to the path that leads up to the top of the hill called Bukit St. Paul; where you can find the ruins of the old St. Pauls Cathedral. Visit this attraction in the early morning to avoid the crowds and to enjoy a much cooler weather.

Porta de Santiago (A Famosa)

Right below Bukit St. Paul there is another sight that you should visit when you are in Malacca; Porta de Santiago or A Famosa. This is where you can see the ruins of a Portuguese fortress.


Jonker Street

Jonker Street is where tourists can enjoy the popular night market during weekends. Foreigner especially from China or Taiwan loves to shopping and have their dinner here. Besides many street vendors that sell all kinds of stuff (including typical souvenirs) there are also many places to eat or enjoy a snack or drink.


Portuguese Settlement

Located along the coast of Malacca, at a 10 minute drive from the city center. Here you can still breathe the Portuguese atmosphere, this is the place where the descendants of the Portuguese still live. Numerous small hawkers sell fresh fish, Portuguese style.
